Project mission:

FORMS stands for Futures Oriented Museum Synergies, an international community of forward thinking cultural leaders (and the museums they represent) whose shared mission is to promote social experiences, support personal leadership capacities and share best practices that inspire action for sustainable futures. Such mission is actualized by a continual challenging of our assumptions about past, present and futures.

The Story

During a two day reunion in Amsterdam in October of 2019, MOTI launched FORMS with more than 20 leaders of futures-oriented museums from around the world. With an overarching ambition to facilitate new forms of exchange, and to spark fertile new grounds yet to be explored, MOTI identified the need for a platform where collaboration and collective reflection could strengthen local action towards greater global impact. With the success of this kick off meeting in Amsterdam, MOTI is currently preparing for its second meeting to take place in Berlin in 2020, at the invitation of one of FORMS’ members, Futurium, the newly launched museum, in close collaboration with the BMW Foundation’s Markus Hipp and team. Among the members of this community are: Museum of Tomorrow Rio de Janeiro, Miraikan Science Center, Science Gallery, NEMO Science Museum, Museum of Discovery, Biotopia, among others.
